Apple Valley, Eastview TV Programs Win Upper Midwest Student TV Awards
The broadcast TV programs at Eastview High School and Apple Valley High School dominated the 2011 High School Television Awards from the Upper Midwest chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
Of the 10 categories, there were only two in which neither school was the honoree.
The awards, called Crystal Pillars, were announced earlier this month:
- Best newscast: "Eagle Eye Extra"
- Best general assignment news story: "Chilly Winter" (tie)
- Best arts and entertainment/cultural affairs piece: "AC Simmons"
- Best sportscast: "Eagle Sport Report"
- Best community service/public service announcement: "Bullying PSA"
- Best general assignment news story: "Minnesota Wild Contest" (tie)
- Best public affairs/community service piece: "Breast Cancer"
- Best writing: "The Flash"
- Best editing: "Diego Perez Composite"
Advisers for Apple Valley's program were Cliff Dodge and Tzitel Voss. The adviser for Eastview's program was Nick Fornicoia.
