The season of Lent—the traditional period of penance, self reflection, fasting (and fish fries!)—begins tomorrow with Ash Wednesday.
One of the holiest days in the Roman Catholic Church's calendar, Ash Wednesday is celebrated with services in which the faithful are marked with an ash cross on the forehead.
The season of Lent ends with Good Friday and Easter.
Risen Savior Catholic Church, 1501 E. County Road 42, will celebrate Mass at 9 a.m. Word services will take place at 7 a.m., noon and 7 p.m. Distribution of ashes will be part of all services.
