Eastview Wins Thriller Against Apple Valley to Earn Trip to State Boys Basketball

The Lightning won 57-53 in Friday night's section final against the Eagles.

The Eastview boys basketball team is headed to state after beating Apple Valley 57-53 in Friday night's section 3AAAA final.

Who Eastview will play in the first round of the state tournament is yet to be determined, but the quarterfinals are scheduled for Wednesday at the Target Center and University of Minnesota Williams Arena.

On Friday, the Burnsville High School gym was packed with Apple Valley and Eastview fans, with a line out the door more than an hour before gametime.

And while the score wasn't as high as during the teams' previous meetings in January and February this season—they ended 91-84 and 85-75, respectively— the show didn't disappoint.

Apple Valley was within five points with one minute left in the second half, and within two with only a handful of seconds left on the clock but couldn't come up with the win.
