Eastview Community Foundation Awards $65K in Scholarships, $20K in Grants

The foundation has given more than $465,000 in scholarships and $150,000 in grants since it began the efforts.

 

The Eastview Community Foundation, with money earned from foundation events and the support of the community, awarded more than $65,000 for 105 scholarships to members of the Eastview High School class of 2012.

The foundation also awarded more than $20,000 in grants to Eastview community schools, for academic, arts and athletics programs, according to a press release.

Beginning in 2000 and through this year, EVCF has awarded more than $465,000 and 820 scholarships to graduating Eastview seniors. This year, EVCF combined efforts with Eastview and added 15 Lightning scholarships formerly distributed by the high school.

This year's $20,294.20 in grants went to six of the submitted requests:

Proposals this year requested nearly $44,000 in grant money; unfortunately, due to limited funding, not all requests could be filled.

EVCF has provided nearly $150,000 in grants to the eligible schools in the Eastview Community since 2005 due to financial support of individuals and businesses in the Eastview school community.

The Eastview Community Foundation scholarship and grants award ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 29 in the Eastview Commons.
