UPDATED: One Killed, Three Injured in Accident on Hwy. 77
The Minnesota State Patrol says a 26-year-old Farmington resident was killed and three others injured.
At least one person was killed and two injured in a five-person rollover accident that shut down the northbound lanes of Cedar Avenue on Sunday night, according to Minnesota State Patrol officials.
Emergency responders closed Cedar Avenue at McAndrews Road/County Road 38 following the accident, which occurred shortly before 6 p.m., according to the State Patrol website.
State Patrol investigators say a GMC Savana van with two occupants was traveling southbound on Hwy. 77 when it veered, hit a metal guard rail and traveled into the northbound lanes of Hwy. 77, according to state patrol officials. At that point, the Savana struck a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling northbound. The Tahoe had three occupants at the time of the collision.
Inoncencio Munoz-Gutierrez, a 26-year-old Farmington resident who was riding as a passenger in the van, was killed in the collision. The driver of the van, 31-year-old Salomon G. Adorno from Farmington, is listed in critical condition.
The driver of the Tahoe, 39-year-old Jason M. Breunig from Lakeville, sustained minor injuries in the accident, according to the State Patrol. Passenger Kristin M. Breunig, 35, sustained a minor injury, while 7-year-old Hannah Breunig was uninjured.
Photos submitted by Patch user James Richter show significant damage to both the Tahoe and the commercial van, as well as debris strewn across the roadway.
Conditions on Sunday night were foggy, but it's unclear as to whether that was a contributing factor in the accident.

Drove south past this coming home from work. There was debris into the southbound lane. Pics look like it may have been head on. Wonder if someone was going the wrong direction?
