Tour the Ice Castle at MOA

Less than a week remains to see "the greatest ice spectacle of them all." This winter, Mall of America® has built an elaborate castle of ice, using 4 million gallons of water and Minnesota's legedary cold to construct a network of arfhes, tunnels, and caverns. The castle is 40-foot tall and covers over an acre of space in the mall's north parkng lot. However, the castle will only be open to the public until Feb. 20, 2013.

I have to say considering the state of Minnesota being in a drought situation, I am totally amazed officials allowed them to use 4 million gallons of water to build this thing. Not only is it ugly, its a huge waste of a resource. In the small town that I lived in for over 30 years in Northern Wisconsin, We had an ice Castle almost every year. But, they cut the blocks of ice from a lake and it actually looked like a castle, not a blob of ice as this thing does... Maybe in the future they could actually come up with plans and build it also to look like a castle. We have lots of lakes to get ice from here!
