Five Things You Need To Know Today In Rosemount: Feb. 8

RHS basketball, an Environmental Career Fair and a fun Facebook group top today's "must-know" list.

 Welcome to our daily round-up of what you need to know about Rosemount for Tuesday, Feb 8:

1) There is a lot of action today for the Rosemount High School basketball teams, although most of the games are taking place at Prior Lake High School. JV, 9A and 10A games are away, as is the 7:15 p.m. boys varsity game. But the girl's varsity squad is playing Prior Lake at Rosemount beginning at 7:15 p.m.

2) If you're the parent of a child attending District 196, this will be a long week for you. It's parent-teacher conference time this week, and the kids will be out of school. Children attending half-day Kindergarten will be out Weds.-Fri.. All K-8 students will be out Thursday and Friday. All students (including high school) will be out Friday.

3) If you're looking for yet another way to waste time on Facebook, here is the group "You Know You Went To Rosemount High School If..."

4) The girl's varsity gymnastics team has a meet at Eastview High School beginning at 6:00 p.m.

5) The School of Environmental Studies (12155 Johnny Cake Ridge Road, Apple Valley) will be holding the 4th annual Environmental College and Career Fair, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

This event is an arena style "fair" in which colleges, and environmental organizations (private, non-profit, government) provide information about their organizations’ and offer career guidance to students. Students can learn about volunteering, internships, jobs, and other opportunities at environmental organizations. Colleges will provide information on: course offerings, majors, activities, environmental programs, and cost of attendance.
