Five Things You Should Know Today: August 24

Can this weather hold until the Minnesota State Fair? Keep your fingers crossed.

  1. Today will be sunny, with a high near 81, and breezy, with northwest winds eventually at 17 to 20 mph, according to the National Weather Service. There could be occasional gusts as high as 28 mph. Tonight’s low will be around 58, with clear skies and winds becoming light.  
  2. The Rosemount Youth Commission will meet at 1 p.m. today in Rosemount City Hall. Agenda items include a wrap-up of the youth rally and signing of youth rally thank-you cards. The public is welcome to attend the meeting. 
  3. The Thompson Park Activity Center in West St. Paul will host a from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today in the activity center’s parking lot. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.
  4. All Dakota County libraries have temporarily suspended circulation of computer games as library employees review security measures.
  5. Today is National Knife Day. Who knows what that means? Just be careful when you’re slicing those home-grown tomatoes, OK?
