Rosemount's Parks and Recreation Commission meets tonight.

  1. After a nice weekend, the rain returns today, with a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms for Rosemount and the possibility of up to three-quarters of an inch of rain. When it’s not raining, the National Weather Service says skies will be partly sunny, with highs near 75.

  3. On this day in 1977, heiress Elisabeth Congdon and her nurse were murdered at Glensheen Mansion in Duluth. Congdon’s son-in-law, Roger Caldwell, was subsequently convicted of the murders, but new evidence in the case set him free and incriminated his wife, Marjorie, Elisabeth Congdon’s adopted daughter. Marjorie was acquitted of the murders but was found guilty in several unrelated cases and remains incarcerated in Arizona.
  4. Head over to Apple Valley tonight at 7 to hear the Dark Star Orchestra at perform under the stars in the Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater. Tickets are $36.86 (including fees) and are available through Ticketmaster.
  5. Famous birthdays today: Actor Tobey Maguire is 35, former presidential candidate Ross Perot is 80, and Bob Keeshan – better known as Captain Kangaroo – would have been 83 today. And today is the 130th anniversary of the birth of Helen Keller.
