Rosemount kids found their own pots of gold and were treated to music by the Splatter Sisters
Rosemount’s enthusiastic kids rushed – and searched – the grassy fields of Jaycee Park on Tuesday afternoon for the annual Leprechaun
Days Blarney Stone Hunt, sponsored by CF Industries and Rosemount
Parks and Recreation.
The high-energy event gave young participants the challenge of collecting their own “pots of gold” by finding special colored rocks scattered and hidden in the grass – “as fast as they can find them,” said Kayla Turbes, an event leader with Rosemount Parks and Recreation.
Adding to the excitement, the collected green, silver and gold rocks could then be traded in for real money – five cents for each green rock, a $1 coin in exchange for each silver rock, and a cool $2 for finding a gold nugget.

After each child “cashed in” his or her collection, Rosemount Parks and Recreation staff members encouraged another Blarney Stone hunt: “Go find some more!”
The young hunters – all Rosemount residents – were separated into three age groups: four years old and under; ages 5-7 and ages 8-12.
