Rosemount Under First Freeze Warning of the Season

The National Weather Service expects an early season freeze tonight.

Fall is moving in and already the National Weather Service has said temperatures in Rosemount could dip to 31 degrees overnight for the low.

Widespread frost is expected, so be prepared, and a freeze warning has been issued for all of central and southern Minnesota from midnight until 8 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

For those people worried about their plants or vegetables, Fluegel's Farm Garden and Pets Customer Service Specialist Tara Bauer has some tips. "A good idea is to cover plants with bedsheets. Homeowners don't want their tomatoes or vegetables to freeze ... [however], apples will be fine."

For the longterm freezes, homeowners may want to consider purchasing an isolating cover for their rosebushes, spruces or other plants. However, Bauer said that isn't necessary quite yet.

"Right now, people should just cover the stuff they don't want [damaged by the occasional frost]," she said.
