Rosemount's Spring Easter Egg Hunt a Chilly but Sweet Treat

Avid treasure hunters, estimated at more than 1,000, swarmed over three soccer fields Saturday.

Delayed a week by the weather, nothing was going to stop these enthusiastic Spring Easter Egg hunters and gatherers Saturday.

More than a thousand children, up to age 10, swarmed over three fields at the Ames Soccer Complex at Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount seeking Easter Eggs and candy Saturday morning. The early morning chill was quickly forgotten once the air gun sounded, starting started the hunt.

Most filled their baskets and bags with treats to the brim. A full of the luckiest grabbed golden eggs, which allowed them to claim a special prize.

Sponsored by the Rosemount Lions Club, the 22nd edition of the Spring Easter Egg hunt was successful for all who participated. The three soccer fields were divided by age groups for youngest, middle and oldest children, ensuring that even the youngest got a share  of the loot.

"This is always a great event," said Bob Nelson of Rosemount. "We bring our kids every year. They always come home with full baskets."
