Sushi, Golf Lessons or Gardening; District 196 Has a Class for That!

Sushi

WHAT: Create both traditional rolled sushi (maki-zushi) and American California sushi. Start with seasoned sushi rice and add your choice of ingredients including cooked chicken, shrimp, smoked salmon, crab, mushrooms, eggs, carrots, avocado, spinach, ginger and more!  No raw fish is used. Discover where to shop and how to select brands. Prepare ingredients, assemble the rolls and learn presentation tips. Sample sushi in class and take some home. Bring a container to class. Fee includes all ingredients. Additional time may be required for cleanup.

6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 12 at Scott Highlands Middle School.

Container Garden Design Using Proven Performing Plants

WHAT: Do you desire lush, healthy, long-lasting and colorful container gardens that add pizzazz to your property? Ideally, container gardens should be vibrant for five months. Whether you are a novice or experienced gardener, it is hard to know where to begin. Learn how to get started on finding fast-growing, vigorous nursery quality plants with season-long colors. View images of striking color combinations of readily available plants that are easily created in containers. A detailed handout of each plant and container design recipe provided. WHEN: 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. on April 15 at Falcon Ridge Middle School.

Golf Tune Up: Improve Your Game

WHAT: Learn and develop solid golf skills and work on correcting your hook or slice and more! Review the fundamentals for solid contact with irons and woods. Improve around the green including bunkers. Understand your putter and sink those putts. Each session includes full swing and short game lessons under a skilled golf instructor. Small class allows for individual attention. Class is four, ninety-minute lessons.
WHEN: 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays from April 15-24 at the Emerald Greens Golf Course. Or, 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 16-25.
