Community Theater in Works for Former St. Joseph's Church

Plays could start as early as 2014.

The Rosemount Area Arts Council plans to set up a community theater company in the former St. Joseph's Church—now called the Steeple Center—according to the Star Tribune.

Organizers hope that performances could start as early as 2014.

The plan faces challenges, including the building's weekend renter, City Hill Church. Clever logistical arrangements would have to be devised to clear rehearsals, sets, and theater equipment out of the way in time for Sunday services.

“There are some things that you look at as being part of a successful community, and Rosemount has a lot of things going for it already,” RAAC member John Loch told the newspaper. “[The theater] is one more piece of the puzzle of building a successful community.”
