'Amahl and the Night Visitors' at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center

According to a press release:

The Burnsville Performing Arts Center will be transformed in a fully staged production of the American Classic: Amahl and the Night Visitors by Gian Carlo Menotti, a family favorite for two generations. The concert will also include other Christmas favorites and a Christmas carol sing-along.

The role of Amahl will be played by Gabe Hug, an 11-year-old student from Woodbury.

Kaspar will be played by vocal actor, Rick Penning who is also the stage director for the project. Sandra Penning will play Amahl’s Mother. Rick and Sandra are veteran vocal actors who have appeared with the Minnesota Orchestra, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and, frequently with the Minnesota Opera.

Stephen Ramsey, director of the Dakota Valley Symphony, says, “It is a rare and special opportunity to witness another miracle of that first Christmas. Join Amahl, his mother and the village shepherds as they are visited by the three kings on their way to Bethlehem.”

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and $5 for kids.
