  1. There’s a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today, according to the National Weather Service, but mostly before 1 p.m. After that, we can expect partly sunny skies, with a high near 86 and light winds. Things will clear off tonight , with a low near 66. 
  2. It’s Minnesota’s – a time to get out and meet your neighbors, Rosemount’s police force, fire department and city council members. The city has more than 20 neighborhood get-togethers registered. Organizers say the effort makes communities safer places to live.

  5. On this day in 1956, Albert Woolson – the last surviving Union veteran of the Civil War – died in Duluth at age 109. Woolson enlisted in the First Minnesota Heavy Artillery at 16, serving as a drummer boy. He moved to Duluth in 1905.
