Lingering Winter Delays Caponi Art Park Opening

Caponi Art Park in Eagan announced on Friday that the opening of the park, planned for May 1, will be postponed until May 18.

The unusually foul spring weather has claimed another victim.

Caponi Art Park in Eagan announced on Friday that the opening of the park, planned for May 1, will be postponed until May 18. Consistent snow and cold temperatures have so far prevented park officials from performed needed spring maintenance, according to a news release issued by the park.

As a result of the delayed opening, the park's annual Poets in the Park Teen Poetry Slam—scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, will be moved indoors to the Wescott Library in Eagan.

The park still plans to host a free open house for families from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday Mary 18 to kick off the 20133 season, the news release said. Visitors will be able to explore Caponi Art Park and enjoy ongoing art activities for all ages, including a craft scavenger hunt and word walk in the sculpture garden.

Snacks and refreshments will be served and self-guided tour booklets will be available on a first come, first served basis.
