Eagan High Leads the Way as Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Schools Crush ACT Scores

All four high schools in District 196 either nearly matched or topped Minnesota's average score on the ACT exam, which was the best in nation.

Last year nearly 1,7000 students across District 196 sharpened their pencils for the annual ACT exam.
The result? The district passed with flying colors.
The district put together a combined score of 24.0 on the test, beating the state average by a point and the national average by more than three full points.
Eagan High School students led the way with an average composite score of 25.4 (on a scale of 36), topping the Minnesota average of 23.0. Apple Valley High was just under the state mark at 22.9 (just under the state's mark) and Eastview had a solid 23.8. Rosemount students posted a 23.2. Students at the School of Environmental Studies put up a 23.9 average.
Results of the test were released Wednesday, Aug. 21 by the Minnesota Department of Education. The more than 1,660 students who were tested in District 196 represented about 75 percent (or three out of four) of 2013 graduates in the high schools last year.
Over the past seven years, the district's average mark has been near 24, with a 23.8 in 2007 and 2008. It hit a high mark of 24.1 last year.
The ACT is the primary admission test for students attending colleges in the Midwest. Schools in the southeast and far west use the SAT entrance exam.
