Business Brief: Fashion Bug in Apple Valley to Remain Amid 120 Store Closings

Two unprofitable Twin Cities Fashion Bug stores will close their doors in 2011, but Apple Valley's will remain open.

Some Twin Cities Fashion Bug customers might have to start traveling to Apple Valley to get their shopping done.

Amid closings of 120 Fashion Bug stores nationwide—including locations in Cottage Grove and Dundas—the Apple Valley is slated to remain in business, according to a spokeswoman from the store's parent company.

Charming Shoppes Inc., parent company of Fashion Bug, Lane Bryant and Catherine's Plus Size, announced in March that it would close 240 unprofitable stores in 2011, according to the Phoenix Business Journal.

The Fashion Bug locations in Cottage Grove and Dundas will close because they were "not meeting operating objectives," corporate spokesperson Ilana Bagell said. They'll hold inventory liquidation sales until they close.

The Fashion Bug in Shakopee also will remain open, Bagell said.
