These businesses and organizations are just a few that have events and specials to help you celebrate Valentine's Day. What Valentine's Day recommendations do you have for other readers?

Still looking for something special to do for Valentine's Day (next week Tuesday, folks—and some places are planning events even earlier!)? If you plan to celebrate, here are a few in-town options that are offering events and specials in recognition of the sweetest day of the year, whether you're with your sweetheart, friends or whole family:

Enjoy! Restaurant Aphrodisiac Menu

$45 per person

will serve up a special Valentine's Day-themed menu each day Feb. 10-14, so you can dine out for the occasion even if you haven other obligations on the actual holiday.

The menu includes an appetizer course, main course and dessert course, each with a variety of dishes. The complete menu is listed online.

  • Ultimate Chocolate Martini—Vanilla Vodka, Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, Bailey’s Irish Cream and Chocolate Sauce
  • Gatsby’s Daisy—Absolut Wild Tea Vodka, Lavender Simple Syrup, Cranberry Juice, Tarragon, Cranberries and Lime

Minnesota Zoo Love Tour

$175 per couple

Seats are still left for four of seven sessions of this year's Love Tour, which begin every 15 minutes the evening of Feb. 14 and run for about an hour. The tour gives you a look at the love lives of various zoo creatures, and is followed by dinner in Discovery Bay.

The menu includes appetizers, salads, entrees and dessert, with vegetarian options included. The complete menu is available on the zoo's website.

BONUS: While on the topic of zoos, the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory in St. Paul also is offering a Valentine's Day dining event for $165 per couple, at 5:30 and 8 p.m. from Feb. 12-14. .

District 196 EFCE Valentine's Day Bash

$5 per child, $15 maximum

Looking for a more family-friendly Valentine's activity, especially for the little ones? District 196's Early Childhood Family Education program is sponsoring a show featuring children's band Koo Koo Kanga Roo, and including sing-alongs and group dancing.

The party, best for kids 10 and under, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday (Feb. 11) at in Apple Valley.

Other activities include face painting and tattoos, and making valentines.

Valley Tap House

$25 per couple special, $10 individual special

One of Apple Valley's newest restaurants, the Valley Tap House, is offering two Valentine's Day dinner specials.

For couples, $25 will get you two pit sandwiches, a bottle of wine and chocolate cake.

As an individual special, $10 will buy one pit sandwich and a tap beer on Valentine's Day.

You can make reservations online or by phone.

White Castle's Hot & Steamy Valentine's Day

For something a little more out of the box, White Castle goes all-out for Valentine's Day and offers table service for its famous sliders, by reservation starting at 5 p.m. (and apparently spots go fast!). Get a free dessert with your reservation, too.

Some added fun: Submit your most romantic photo and become eligible for a White Castle romantic dinner kit and T-shirts.
