'Nest, NOOOOOOO!': Google's Purchase of Nest Makes Thermostats Interesting

Love it or hate it, the Internet giant's newest acquisition has people talking about thermostats like they never have before.

Monday’s announcement that Google will be acquiring smart thermostat manufacturer Nest for $3.2 billion focused attention on the lowly thermostat in a way that never has been before.

The purchase is particularly salient for Minnesotans since Honeywell International’s thermostat business is based in Golden Valley and the company has an ongoing patent lawsuit with Nest.
