Pardon My French Unexpectedly Closes Its Doors

The bakery, wine bar and cafe closed both its Cliff Road and Mall of America locations Sunday, after posting a notice to its Facebook page informing customers.

The sudden closing of Pardon My French Bakery, which had locations on Cliff Road just north of Apple Valley and at the Mall of America, caught the community by surprise Sunday.

"PLEASE tell me this isn't so! There are so few original and interesting places to go in MN, especially south of the river! Is there ANYTHING that can be done?!" Facebook user Kristen Meier wrote on the restaurant's Facebook page.

Meier wasn't the only one to lament the closing of the restaurant. Dozens of other Facebook users posted messages of support or sadness after the restaurant announced its closure with an apology on Saturday.

"Due to circumstances that are outside of our reach we are closing and we were just notified of the situation less then 48hrs ago," the restaurant posted on its own Facebook page. In another post, restaurant officials confirmed that both locations in Eagan and Bloomington were closing.

A call to the number listed for Pardon My French early Monday morning went straight to an operator's message. The Eagan restaurant was was locked, dark and unoccupied, and a sign posted on the door read:

"We are sorry, but Pardon My French had to close its doors. It's been a pleasure to serve you the last four years. Thank you for your kindness and support."
