What's Open, What's Closed on Thanksgiving Day in Apple Valley

See which establishments you will and won't be able to visit on Thursday.

If you need to take care of business at any Apple Valley establishments, check to see whether they'll be open to your business on Thanksgiving Day on Thursday. Here are some we've nailed down for you.

What's Closed Thursday

  • the Apple Valley Municipal Center, Rosemount City Hall and Central Maintenance Facility offices (also closed Friday)
  • Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan public schools (also closed Friday)
  • the Dakota County Western Service Center and all other Dakota County offices (will be open on Friday)
  • Apple Valley's Galaxie Library, and all other Dakota County libraries (will be open on Friday)
  • the United States Postal Service branch in Apple Valley, as well as all others; there is no mail delivery on Thanksgiving Day.
  • Banks, including Wells Fargo banks, U.S. Bank branches and MidCountry, Eagle Valley, Anchor, Sterling State, TCF Bank, American Bank, Merchants Bank and Wings Financial Credit Union and M&I banks
  • Many retailers and restaurants; check with specific outlets for hours. Get phone numbers in our business directory.

What's Open Thursday        

  • Apple Valley's 24-hour Walmart, Cedar Avenue Walgreens and Pilot Knob Walgreens locations, and Galaxie Avenue CVS and Dove Trail CVS locations will remain open regular hours.
  • Michaels craft store is open 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Enjoy! Restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will serve a traditional turkey and other Thanksgiving dishes, in addition to regular-menu items.
  • IHOP and Denny's restaurants are open 365 days a year.
  • Minnesota Valley Transit Authority bus service will operate on a special holiday schedule. This PDF contains all schedule and route information for upcoming winter holidays.
