Annual Rosemount Farmers Market Returns this Week

The Market, with all its locally-grown fresh produce, has been growing "remarkably well" in Rosemount

Despite cooler-than-normal temperatures lately, it's easy to recognize summer is here when the St. Paul Farmers Market – with its vibrant selection of garden-fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, and other Minnesota-grown summertime goods – returns to Rosemount.

It’s right around the corner: the annual tradition will once again take place in the Rosemount Community Center/Armory parking lot, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. every Tuesday, from June 21 through Sept. 20.

According to Recreation Supervisor Lisa Maurer, the Rosemount Farmers Market has been held since 2002 – and “has grown remarkably well every year for the last several years,” said Jack Gerten, St. Paul Farmers Market manager.

“We originally started on the City Hall property but moved it to the Armory to accommodate [the number of people]. The population in Rosemount has been growing remarkably,” he said. “We also wanted it to be in a more visible location [and one that] has more parking.”

Customers will find a full selection of cut flowers, fruits and vegetables in Rosemount, according to Gerten, as well as “value-added products like the salsas and the maple syrups.”

Among the colorful, fresh produce, look for broccoli, spinach and radishes – which peak in late June – as well as strawberries, which peak in late June and early July.

Throughout July, enjoy blueberries, beets, green beans, peas and kohlrabi as they reach their peak.

Cucumbers, peppers, summer squash, sweet corn and tomatoes will be at their best in late July and early August.

You can download a calendar from the St. Paul Farmers Market website that shows peak seasons for various fruits, vegetables and other Minnesota-grown produce:

Operated by the St. Paul Growers' Association, the farmers market sells only fresh, locally-grown products that go directly from the grower to the consumer, according to its website.
