Rosemount Smoke Plume is Controlled Burn

A large plume of smoke, which can be seen for miles, is due to an apparent controlled burn happening outside of Rosemount.

No need to be alarmed, but residents in many cities are probably curious.

A large plume of smoke in Rosemount, which could be seen for miles, is due to a scheduled controlled burn.

The plume could be seen on the horizon from many towns around the area Wednesday afternoon. The attached photo was taken in Lakeville around 2:15 p.m.

The controlled burn is being conducted at the Flint Hills Pine Bend Refinery near Hwy. 52. The Minnesota DNR is helping to oversee the burn.
