Three Injured in Collision with Police Squad Car

An outside agency will be investigating the crash, which occurred on Wednesday.

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a three-car accident involving an Apple Valley police officer.

The Star Tribune reports that the Wednesday crash occurred around 12:20 p.m. at the intersection of 140th Street and Galaxie Avenue. Officer Mark Shaw was apparently driving east on 140th when his squad struck a minivan, which was about to make a left turn off of southbound Galaxie. The impact caused a chain reaction, pushing the minivan into another car at the intersection.

According to the newspaper, witnesses say Shaw ran a red light and did not have his lights or siren on.
