Fluffing Flat Carpet Spots

During the holidays furniture seems to get moved around a lot which causes indentations in the carpeting or if you are moving in or out there are always flat carpet spots where heavy items used to be.

How can you get rid of the furniture marks? Ice! How does that work?

  1.  Move your furniture to uncover carpet dents.
  2.  Drop 1 ice cube in each dent. Large or long dents may require multiple ice cubes.
  3.  Let the ice cubes melt. As they melt, the nap of the carpet will begin to fluff back up, reducing (and eventually removing) the dent.
  4.  Check the results the next morning. If necessary, blot up excess water with white paper towel or colorfast cloth.
  5.  If the nap hasn't recovered completely, use a fork to gently lift remaining carpet fibers.
  6.  Repeat for persistent dents.
  • • Make sure that the melting ice doesn’t go through to the floor boards
    • If some dents don’t want to disappear, spray these spots lightly with a water bottle and fluff the area manually while using a blow dryer on the area.
