Highway 77 Congestion Relief Subject of Two MnDOT Open Houses

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be holding open houses to deal with traffic congestion on Highway 77.

Apple Valley residents may be getting some relief from traffic on their Highway 77 commutes.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is looking to add managed lanes on the highway between 140th Street West in Apple Valley and Old Shakopee Road in Bloomington in an effort to decrease congestion.

MnDOT is considering three options:

  • Adding a MnPASS lane from 138th St. to Old Shakopee Road
  • Adding a MnPASS contra flow lane from 138th Street to Old Shakopee Road
  • Adding a hybrid option that includes MnPASS lane and reduces the length of a contra flow lane

MnDOT will be seeking the opinions of residents, business owners and motorists are invited to attend two open houses on:

  • Tuesday, April 23 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Eagan City Hall, 3830 Pilot Knob Road, Eagan
  • and Wednesday, April 24 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Dakota County Western Service Center Atrium, 14955 Galaxie Avenue West, Apple Valley.

The project is also looking at improved bus access to the Cedar Grove Transit Station in Eagan.

Open house attendees will be able to learn the details of the project, view project layouts and ask questions of MnDOT project staff.
