Slain Apple Valley Woman Remembered for Infectious Smile, Military Service

Funeral arrangements are set for Thursday morning for Margorie Ann Holland, nee Brown, who died under suspicious circumstances on Thursday. Visitation will be Wednesday evening in Faribault.

The south metro region is mourning the loss of Margorie Ann Holland, a 37-year-old woman who was slain last Thursday. She was 15 weeks pregnant at the time of her death.

Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 14 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Faribault. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. the day prior, Wednesday, at Boldt Funeral Home in Faribault

Holland, nee Brown, lived in Apple Valley with her husband. She was a longtime resident of Faribault and a member of the Army National Guard. Her family has a long history of service in the military. Her father, Ron Brown, has frequently been featured in Veterans Day tributes by local news media in Rice County. According to a recent article in the Faribault Daily News, Holland had recently returned from deployment in Africa.

Holland is remembered for her bubbly personality and her commitment to military life.

"Dance with the angels Margie ....I know we lost touch over the years ,but I remember your smile to this day ....And I always thought u were the prettiest girl in our class," wrote mourner Heidi Dube, who left a message on Holland's obituary.

SFC Malcolm Mahoney, now retired, remembered Holland as "a friendly noncommissioned officer" who could be consulted with "regarding anything."

"She was a fun person to be with and one I could consult with on various subjects relating to military and her new found hobby of diving," Mahoney wrote. "She was passionate and caring to the young soldiers who she came in contact with. She will be missed by all who knew her."
