Apple Valley Man, Son Accused of Illegally Pumping Diesel From Construction Vehicles

Gennadi Adamovich Krimouski and Maksim Krimouski are charged with theft and tampering with a motor vehicle.

An Apple Valley man and his son face criminal charges after police say they allegedly stole hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel by pumping it out of vehicles at a construction site.

Gennadi Adamovich Krimouski, 47, of Apple Valley, and Maksim Krimouski, 25, of Savage, each are charged in Dakota County with theft and possession of theft tools—both felonies—and misdemeanor tampering with a motor vehicle.

According to the criminal complaint, Dakota County Sheriff's deputies were called to a construction site in Empire Township early on Feb. 16, on a report of vehicle lights and flashlights at the site, when construction was apparently on hold.

Deputies found Maksim hiding under a truck, the complaint says, and he allegedly told them he was having trouble with his car. He then told police his father, Gennadi, was at the other end of the parking lot, the complaint says; a deputy said he saw Gennadi standing in a truck.

The deputies found a trail of diesel fuel in the snow, and followed it to a pump system, according to the complaint. They also allegedly found footprints in the snow that matched the men's shoes.

Maksim allegedly gave a statement to police that he and his father were using their pump system to pump diesel fuel from the vehicles on site, the complaint says. Gennadi gave a statement that he was sleeping in a truck when police came to the site, according to the complaint.

The owner of the construction equipment said about 410 gallons of diesel were missing from four vehicles, at a value of more than $1,600, and that padlocks on the fuel tanks had been cut, the complaint says.

If convicted of all charges against them, the maximum penalty for each man would be eight years and three months in prison and a $16,000 fine.
