Apple Valley Woman Charged With Stealing, Pawning Thousands in Jewelry

Kaitlin Marie Ducker, 18, allegedly stole jewelry valued at almost $7,000 from an Apple Valley home and used some of the money to buy drugs.

An Apple Valley woman faces a felony charge after police say she allegedly stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from an Apple Valley home and sold it at a pawn shop.

Kaitlin Marie Ducker, 18, is charged with felony theft in Dakota County. The maximum penalty is 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, an Apple Valley woman reported to on April 10 that she believed jewelry had been stolen from her home while she was out of town.

The woman reported her husband's gold bracelet and some rings stolen, the complaint says. She told police she had locked the house, but that she saw damage to her bedroom door frame.

Police allegedly found that Ducker had activity on her pawn account showing she had pawned two men's gold and diamond rings on April 6 for $400; the rings appeared to match the rings reported stolen, the complaint says.

The owner of the business told police Ducker also allegedly had pawned a bracelet for $900 on March 29, the complaint says.

Between estimations from the jewelry owners and the shop owner, the jewelry was estimated at a total value of $6,700.

Police found Ducker, who allegedly told police she had taken the rings and sold them, but didn't break into the house. She said she didn't didn't take the bracelet, the complaint says.

She allegedly told police she used the money to buy "junk and weed," the complaint says.

Ducker remained in Dakota County Jail on $20,000 bond on Wednesday. A hearing in Dakota County Court is scheduled for May 8.

Ducker was convicted of misdemeanor theft in Dakota County in January, court records show.
