Apple Valley's Brett Rogers to Return to Mixed Martial Arts Fighting After Alleged Assault Incident

Rogers and his lawyer believe Rogers will not serve jail time related to the alleged late-June incident in which Rogers is charged with assaulting his wife, according to an article on 5thRound.com.

Former mixed martial arts fighter Brett Rogers— related to an alleged domestic violence incident in Apple Valley for which arrested him in late June—is set to return to the sport, according to an article from 5th Round.

Rogers will take on Eddie Sanchez at Titan Fighting Championship 20 on Sept. 23, according to the article.

"I’m confident things are going to be dropped and we can move forward," Rogers said in the article, in reference to the criminal charges.

Rogers is charged with third-degree assault, domestic assault by strangulation, having a pattern of stalking conduct—all felonies—and one gross misdemeanor count of endangerment of a child, according to the criminal complaint.

His contract with Strikeforce was terminated when he was charged.

A settlement conference scheduled for Aug. 31 in Dakota County Court was canceled, and instead should be held the morning the trial is scheduled, Sept. 13.

According to the article, Rogers' attorney—Murad M. Mohammad of Woodbury office Mohammad & Jaafar-Mohammad—said it appears at this point that Rogers' wife will not testify against him. Mohammad said in the article that he believes Rogers will not see any jail time.
