UPDATE: Eastview High Incident Involved Pepper Spray Release; No Injuries

Initial calls for fire department response reported a smoke bomb at the high school Wednesday morning, but the incident was actually the release of pepper spray.

UPDATE 10 a.m. Thursday: Possession and use of pepper spray is regulated by state statute 624.731. Pepper spray, mace, stun guns and tasers are brands and/or different types of chemical irritants and electronic incapacitation devices, according to Apple Valley Acting Police Chief Jon Rechtzigel. The statute provides that "No person under the age of 16 may possess or use an authorized tear gas compound except by written permission of a parent or guardian, and no person under the age of 18 may possess or use an electronic incapacitation device."
