Mayor Swears in New Rosemount Police Officer

A new officer takes the Oath of Office

Police officer Lauryn Bellows stood in front of the City Council and audience at to take her Oath of Office.

Bellows has been with the since Aug. 8, and worked for the City of Brooklyn Park in the Parks and Recreation Department prior to joining the Rosemount's police force, according to Police Chief Gary Kalstabakken.

She is originally from Brooklyn Park and had the support of her parents and neighbors at the meeting. Bellows received her law enforcement training at North Hennepin Community College, and has recently been studying at Saint Mary's University for her bachelor's degree.

However, she is going to take a break from her studies for a bit.

"She will be focusing on her new job, but will get back to [studying for her bachelor's degree in the near future]," Kalstabakken said.

Of Bellows joining the department, Kalstabakken added, "[We] are excited. It's always good to see the enthusiasm of a new officer."

"Thank you and best wishes as you go forward [with the department]," Mayor Bill Droste told Bellows.

Once Bellows has completed all of her training, she will begin working as a patrol officer. Bellows is the second officer the department has hired in the last few months; on June 7.
