Police Warn of Thefts From Cars After 6 Incidents in a Night

Police issued a neighborhood alert after thefts from vehicles were reported overnight from Monday to Tuesday.

responded to six reports of theft from vehicles overnight from Monday to Tuesday this week, according to a neighborhood alert the department issued Wednesday, which included allegedly stolen GPS units and laptops.

According to the alert, the general locations were:

  • 15000 block of Flyboat Lane
  • 7300 block of 158th Street West
  • 6500 block of 154th Street West

Most of the residents reported their vehicles were unlocked and parked in the driveways of their residences, the alert says.

The department is warning residents to be aware of the issue and take steps to prevent this from happening to them.

  • Lock their vehicles and don't leave valuables in their vehicles.
  • Report suspicious activity and crimes to 911.
  • Park vehicles in garages if available.
  • Close and lock garage doors and shed doors overnight; notify neighbors if you see theirs open.
  • Leave outdoor lights on from dusk to dawn.
  • Park in well-lit, visible areas.
  • Remember that thefts from vehicles can also happen during the day, in locations away from home as well.
