Rosemount Man Attacks Resident, Staff at Rehabilitation Facility

If convicted, Eugene Vigo Lufkin, 53, faces up to five-and-a-half years in prison and a $12,000 fine.

A Rosemount rehabilitation center resident was arrested Nov. 15 on felony charges of third-degree assault and two misdemeanor charges of fifth-degree assault.

Eugene Vigo Lufkin, 53, was arrested by for allegedly choking a resident and shoving and threatening two staff members at Options Residential Inc in the 14000 block of Chorley Ave.

According to a Dakota County criminal complaint, Lufkin was upset over a smoking regulation, as well as residents yelling and shouting profanities.

When a female resident approached him and asked him to calm down, Lufkin allegedly got angry, pushed his chest into hers, grabbed her throat and began to choke her.

The complaint said two staff members witnessed the incident and tried to intervene.

The first staff member allegedly saw the victim’s eyes grow large and her face become frantic while Lufkin was choking her, the complaint stated.

When the staff member tried to stop the assault, Lufkin allegedly pushed her against the wall several times.

When a second staff member came to the aide of her colleague and the resident, Lufkin pushed her into a table aggressively and “got into her face,” the complaint stated.

If convicted of the charges against him, Lufkin faces as much as five-and-a-half years in prison and a $12,000 fine.
