Sheriff's Newsletter: Police Call in SWAT Team to Apprehend Felon with a Handgun

A Dakota County SWAT team helped Hastings police arrest an Apple Valley man that police believed was high on methamphetamine and in possession of a handgun.

The officers arrived at an apartment in Hastings and took the suspect's girlfriend into custody, but police learned the man had escaped out a back window. Officers allegedly found a handgun, drugs and ammunition during a search of the apartment.

A short while later, the suspect was found walking barefoot in the cold outside near the residence and was arrested.
