Three Women Charged with Shoplifting Spree in Apple Valley

The three 18-year-old women from Rosemount are charged with stealing more than $650 of health and beauty items and more from Cub and Rainbow on June 20.

Three 18-year-old Rosemount women have been charged with stealing more than $650 worth of items from two grocery stores in Apple Valley during a one-day shoplifting spree in June.

Alyssa Ann Anderson, Kayla Lynn Vivant and Jasmine Veronica Johnson each are charged with gross-misdemeanor theft, which carries a maximum penalty of a year in jail and a $3,000 fine, and misdemeanor theft, which has a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaints, were called to by employees who said three women were concealing merchandise in the store’s health and beauty section.

When an officer entered the parking lot, he saw three women running from the building, with Rainbow employees in pursuit.

The officer helped capture the women, and three different officers interviewed them separately.

Johnson admitted taking cosmetic items from Rainbow, and told the officer that she had shoplifted from in Apple Valley earlier in the day. She agreed to a search of her car, and the officer found health and beauty items that appeared to be new, according to the complaint.

Anderson admitted to a second officer that she had items in her purse that she had taken from Rainbow, and Vivant admitted the same to another officer, the complaint says.

Another officer contacted the loss prevention manager at Cub, who checked the store’s surveillance footage and identified the three women shoplifting items from the store.

A total of 65 items, valued at $469, were taken from Cub Foods, according to the complaint. Rainbow employees said Johnson shoplifted $90 worth of items, Vivant almost $70 worth of items and Anderson $33 worth of items from that store.

Vivant is scheduled to make a first appearance on the charges Oct. 17, and Anderson and Johnson Oct. 24, all in Dakota County District Court in Hastings.
