According to the report, police were called to an armed robbery at Quality Inn, 4601 Highway 13, at approximately 12:17 a.m. Jan. 12. The front desk attendant told police that she had been robbed by three men at gunpoint.

On Jan. 22, Savage police learned about a robbery at a Subway restaurant in Burnsville, which Benson had recently been fired from, involving three men.

While investigating the Subway robbery, Burnsville police identified Ybarra, Rumble and Benson as suspects, as well as a 19-year-old Lakeville woman identified as Emily Kaye Schuster, who is charged in Dakota County District Court with simple robbery and terroristic threats.

On Jan. 23, a Savage police detective spoke with Ybarra at Dakota County Jail. Ybarra initially denied any knowledge of the Quality Inn robbery but allegedly ended up confessing to robbing the motel, and allegedly told the detective that Benson and Rumble were the other two men involved in the robbery.
