Two Suspects Jailed in Connection With UMore Park Fire

Dakota County Sheriff's Department worked with the Rosemount Police Department to catch suspects who allegedly set fire to a shed on the UMore Park property Jan. 5.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Department arrested two males that were allegedly involved

Dakota County Sgt. Jim Gabriel was traveling through the UMore property in the early hours of Thursday, Jan. 5 when he noticed a suspicious car with four people inside.

Gabriel stopped the car and asked the group what they were doing. The group told him they were "out exploring." Gabriel continued to quiz the group, but their story never changed. Gabriel advised the group "to explore new areas" and they left, according to the Dakota County Sheriff Dave Bellow's weekly newsletter.

"Approximately 15 minutes later, deputies were dispatched to a fire involving a large shed located very near the same remote location where Gabriel made the traffic stop. Suspecting there might be a connection, squads were advised to keep an eye out for the vehicle and its occupants," the newsletter stated.

was able to locate the car with all the suspects still inside just a short distance away from the fire. Police brought the suspects to the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office.

"After being interviewed by Det. Dave Sjogren, two of the suspects were jailed on probable cause arson. Deputies Gordy Steffel and Jeff Leopold assisted on the case," the newsletter stated.
