Warrant Issued for Man Accused of Assaulting Rosemount Woman

Police say Ryan Wayne Lewis repeatedly assaulted the victim, including burning her face with cigarettes.

A warrant has been issued for a Minneapolis man accused of repeatedly assaulting a Rosemount woman, drugging her and burning her face with cigarettes.

Police nationwide have been asked to look for Ryan Wayne Lewis, 32, who is named in two different Dakota County criminal complaints.

In the first, Lewis is charged with felony domestic assault, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. In the second complaint, he faces another count of felony domestic assault and a count of third-degree assault, which has the same maximum penalty.

Police say Lewis went to the Rosemount woman’s home on July 26, 2010, and when she told him he owed her money, he became “very angry,” punching her in the head several times.

According to the second complaint, Rosemount police were called to the victim’s home just before midnight on June 1. She told them that Lewis had given her some kind of drug the night before that knocked her out, then burned her with cigarettes.

Police made note of several burn marks on the victim’s face that appeared to have been made with cigarettes.

Lewis had recently been released from prison and was being sought by authorities for another charge of domestic assault by strangulation, according to the complaint.

Lewis’s extensive criminal history includes convictions for receiving stolen property, domestic assault, drugs and domestic assault by strangulation. He was released from the Minnesota correction facility in Lino Lakes last March.
