Some tidbits to know today, Oct. 25.

  1. The National Weather Service is predicting a 40 percent chance of showers today, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 53. Winds will be northeasterly between 11 and 16 mph. Tonight’s low will reach 36, with mostly cloudy skies and winds becoming calm.  
  2. Top-seeded Rosemount High School got a bye in the first round of the Minnesota Section 3AAAAA football playoffs, so the Irish won’t know until after tonight’s game between Burnsville and Eastview who they meet on Saturday.   4. The Rosemount Planning Commission meets at 6:30 tonight at Rosemount City Hall. On the agenda: public hearings on renewal of the Pine Bend Paving interim use permit to continue asphalt hot mix production and aggregate recycling, and on amendments to the city’s flood ordinance. Commissioners will also discuss the 2012-2021 comprehensive improvement plan and ensure that it is consistent with the 2030 comprehensive plan.    
  5. On this day in 1987, the Minnesota Twins won their first World Series championship, beating the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3 in the seven-game series. Remember those days?
