Apple Valley City Council to Vote on New Valleywood Clubhouse

A task force will recommend to the council to build a new golf course clubhouse, rather than making improvements to the existing one.

A recommendation to build a new clubhouse at is on the agenda for the Apple Valley City Council to consider at its Thursday meeting.

The council will consider whether it wants to approve the recommendation to build a new clubhouse, and if so, to approve CNH Architects as the architect for the project and Bossardt Corporation as the construction manager.

Bossardt estimates the new clubhouse would cost $2.96 million, and would have a basement level and first floor each of 8,100 square feet, according to a memo to the city council; the building would need to accommodate day-to-day business, as well as "large (120-150 players), high revenue golf outings," the memo says.

The actual cost would need to be refined after receiving formal bids.

The memo also shows a possible construction start date in October, if the council were to approve the new building.

Another option could be to fix up the existing clubhouse, which is more than 30 years old. The memo to the council says the task force found that structural weakenesses and increased maintenance costs would make it impractical to rehab the clubhouse, the cost of which likely would surpass $1 million.

The city council meeting is scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday at the Apple Valley Municipal Center.
