City Buys Three-Acre Site for Lebanon Cemetery Expansion

The Apple Valley City Council voted to purchase a 3.08-acre site from Fischer Sand and Aggregate for roughly $154,000.

An Apple Valley cemetery just got a little more elbow room, thanks to a deal between the city and a private property owner.

The Apple Valley City Council agreed to purchase a 3.08-acre site adjacent to the city-owned Lebanon Cemetery for roughly $154,000. The property, which will be added to the existing cemetery, should provide ample room over the next 100 years for internments.

Lebanon Cemetery, which is currently 10 acres in size, is located at the corner of Pilot Knob Road and County Road 42. The new addition, currently owned by Fischer Sand and Aggregate, is just east of the current cemetery boundaries.

The purchase will also allow the city to extend Embry Path for improved access to County Road 42 and Pilot Knob Road in the area.
