Dakota County Offering Foreclosure Help Sessions

The Great Recession may be officially over, but don't tell that to the scores of Twin Cities residents who keep getting foreclosed upon.

That's partly why Dakota County is offering residents a free information session this month on foreclosures, according to a press release from the Dakota County Community Development Agency.

The session will include an introduction to how the foreclosure process works, and offers some options homeowners facing foreclosure can use to mitigate their losses. The session will be held July 22 a 6 p.m.

To participate, however, you have to pre-register by calling the development agency at 651-675-4555, and after the information session, participants can set up meetings with housing counselors to get more detailed help.

After registering, participants are required to visit the CDA’s website to download a foreclosure counseling application and authorization forms. Homeowners should email, fax or drop off the completed documents at least 24 hours in advance of the information session on July 22. Documents can be emailed to sgerving@dakotacda.state.mn.us, faxed to 651-287-8026 or dropped off at the CDA’s office. Packets should be addressed to CDA Foreclosure Counseling Team.

Alternately, pre-registered participants can come early to to the session at 5:45 p.m. to fill out the required paperwork.
