Dayton Bonding Proposal Includes $7M for Dolphin Exhibit at Minnesota Zoo

Republicans should release their bonding proposals in the next few weeks.

Gov. Mark Dayton on Tuesday released his bonding proposals for the coming state legislative session, which begins on Jan. 24; the proposal includes $7 million to repair the salt-water tank and exhibit for the dolphins at the .

The $7 million is part of the total $775 million bonding proposal for capital projects throughout the state.

Other notable project proposals include $27 million for a new stadium for the St. Paul Saints and $25 million for work on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, according to a Star Tribune blog post.

During the last legislative session, Sen. Chris Gerlach (R-Apple Valley) and Rep. Tara Mack (R-Apple Valley) in the Senate and House for $9 million for the coming Cedar Avenue bus rapid transit system.

Dayton's proposal doesn't include money for Cedar Avenue or bus rapid transit.

Gerlach and Mack proposed that the money could help finish the work along the corridor, including engineering, design and construction of bus shoulders and transit buildings, Mack said in February.

Republicans are slated to release their bonding proposals in the next few weeks, according to CBS News.
