Earth Day 2011 at the School of Environmental Studies

The School of Environmental Studies (SES) in Apple Valley, Minnesota is excited to present an Earth Day celebration April 22, featuring Governor Mark Dayton.

During the celebration students and the public are invited to attend seminars on a variety of environmental topics and partake in a healthy and locally provided lunch. Students and alumni will also participate in a selection of public service projects in Dakota County.

The theme for this year’s event will be “Reducing Your Personal Ecological Footprint”. Speakers will range from Abby Fenton from the Will Steger Foundation to Mimi Holmes from a chicken co-op in Minneapolis talking about backyard chickens. We will also be featuring an environmentally friendly transportation show including the Chevy Volt, a public bus from the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority, and bicycles with electric assist technology.
