Five Things You Should Know Today: October 4

Let's try to remember this nice stretch of weather in January, OK?

    1. More sunny skies today, with a high near 81, the National Weather Service says. Winds will be light, then become south-southeast between 11 and 14 mph. More mostly clear skies tonight, with a low around 54 and more south-southeast winds between 5 and 7 mph. Leave the bedroom window open tonight.
    2. The Rosemount City Council meets at 7:30 tonight in Rosemount City Hall. On the agenda: a public hearing on an application for an off-sale liquor license for Alex Awada LLC, doing business as Giuseppe’s, and selection of a development team to negotiate terms for senior housing or a senior center project adjacent to the Steeple Center. The public is welcome to attend.
    3. The Rosemount Port Authority also meets tonight, at 6 p.m. in Rosemount City Hall. The agenda includes discussion of a draft economic development program.
    4. A sponsored by OWLS (Outwardly Wiser, Livelier Seniors) begins at 11 a.m. today at 365 Marie Ave. W. in West St. Paul. Participants will ride a hay wagon to the Dodge apple orchard; cost is $3 for the program only or $12 for lunch and the program. To register, call (651) 455-4531.
    5. Today is National Golf Day. Fortunately, the weather’s nice enough, so hit the links, all you golfers. Or, you know, if you don’t golf, take the dog for a walk. Or roll down the windows on your car when you head out for ice cream. It’s all good.
