It was nice while it lasted: Rain returns to the forecast today, along with wind.

  1. The National Weather Service is predicting a 20 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m. today, followed by mostly sunny skies with a high near 66. It will be breezy, with northwest winds of 14 to 17 mph, increasing to 26 to 29 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. Skies will be partly cloudy tonight, with a low near 44, and continued windy conditions, with gusts as high as 32 mph.  
  2. The Rosemount Port Authority has a “special meeting” scheduled from 1 to 7 p.m. today. The agenda was unavailable.

A program called “” will be offered at 3 p.m. today at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, 20965 Holyoke Ave. Folk singers, Lakeville Classic Voices and Lakeville Senior Creative Writers will join forces to share original music and stories, along with sing-along folk favorites. Admission is free; food-shelf donations are welcome.

This is a good day, historically, for TV debuts. “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis” premiered on this date in 1959; “My Three Sons” in 1960; “My Favorite Martian” in 1963; “Love American Style” in 1969; "McMillan and Wife” in 1971; “MacGyver” in 1985; “Designing Women” in 1986; and “thirtysomething” in 1987.
