If you haven’t yet registered to vote, get it off your to-do list now.

Today is National Voter Registration Day, and thousands of local, state and national organizations have mobilized to make sure millions of people don’t miss the chance to cast their vote in this year’s elections.
Six million people didn’t vote in the 2008 elections because they either did not know how to register or because they missed the voter registration deadline.

To preregister to vote in the Nov. 6 general election, voters must register by 5 p.m Tuesday, Oct. 16.

Residents can register at the following locations:
• Dakota County Administration Center, 1590 Hwy. 55, Hastings
• Dakota County Western Service Center, 14955 Galaxie Ave., Apple Valley
• Dakota County Northern Service Center, 1 Mendota Rd., West St. Paul
• Apple Valley Municipal Center, 7100 147th St. W.
• Rosemount City Hall, 2875 145th St. W.

Also, voter registration applications are available online by clicking here. A Spanish version is available by clicking here. Completed applications can be mailed to Dakota County Elections, Administration Center, 1590 Highway 55 Suite 2300, Hastings, MN 55033-2343.

Registration is permanent if voters cast ballots at least once every four years and do not charge their addresses or names.
